Ziggy Zeitgeist has become a staple of the Australian Music scene. Touring and recording with Melbourne Nu-Soul/ future-jazz collective, ‘30/70’ has enabled Zeitgeist to forge new frontiers in improvisation and drum-set application. Zeitgeist has stepped up to the role of bandleader in the debut self-titled album Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange.

The vision of this project was to create a live band experience that is closely aligned with an extended DJ set, heavily influenced by club culture and transformative festivals where people seek a more transcendent experience- a continuous odyssey, sound and groove with the spirit of live improvisa- tion. The main influences for this project include house, broken beat, and a good dose of 70’s jazz-funk in order to create a unique and cosmic pocket.

The balearic duo were DJ Supermarkt’s first and only choice to play a special festive, warm Live set for the occasion. After countless EPs, this year, they released their beautiful debut long player album „Île De Rêve“ full of modern warm electronic pop music. Only today they will mix their own immaculate balearic analogue/electronic-pop material with some classics for the season. It is already the second time the boys play a TSTD party, many of you might remember them taking over The Monarch some years ago!

Private Agenda are a synth-pop duo from High Wycombe, UK and currently based in London and Berlin. Drawing upon new wave, ambient and the eclectic music and fashion culture that defined the spirit of the ‘Balearic Beat’, their productions encompass a forward-thinking production and style sensibility which balances a love of the electronic music underground and the striking immediacy of contemporary pop music.

In recent years they’ve released music on iconic indie labels including, International Feel (DJ Harvey, Todd Terje), Wall of Sound (Grace Jones, Röyksopp) and Live at Robert Johnson (Fort Romeau, Roman Flügel) and they have a debut album forthcoming in Summer 2019 with Lo Recordings (Aphex Twin, Grimes).

Echoing their expansive studio sound, the band pair’s live performances have ranged from an energetic two-piece stage show which they’ve toured around Europe with talented newcomers Parcels (Kitsune) and Park Hotel (Fierce Panda) to live PA and DJ performances which have seen the duo take command of the decks at renown clubs, such as Robert Johnson in Offenbach, Chalet in Berlin and Oslo Hackney in London.

Mulay is giving her last concert in Berlin this year above the rooftops of Neukölln, before we can expect to hear more on her debut EP dropping in 2020. Take a first glimpse at what’s to come and dive into the new, captivating sound of Mulay.

Mulay lives, feels and breathes through her music – without the fear of standing out. In Berlin, she is currently working on her most personal pieces. Future-Pop, Trip-Hop, R&B – call it what you want: in the end it’s unique. Uniquely different! Sounding pleasantly familiar at the same time, as her inspiration comes from icons such as Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, as well as the British queen of avant-garde FKA Twigs. With her warm voice, Mulay travels through spherical soundscapes and takes you on a journey through her consciousness.

Her voice caught the attention of none other than Che Pope (i.a. Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, A$AP Rocky). This spring, the star producer discovered the 25-year old on Instagram, reached out and shortly after they came together for a session at his studio in L.A. An encounter that highlights only more facets of this young artist, whom we will surely hear more of soon.

Szabolcs Bognar´ collaboration based solo project Àbáse is focusing on the cross-paths of afrobeat, hip hop, jazz and electronica with a heavyweight rhythm section and special guests from Africa and its diaspora.

After gaining support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Soulection, Nabihah Iqbal, KEXP and appearing for an energetic live set at Thris Tian’s Global Roots radio show on Worldwide FM, Àbáse released his long anticipated debut EP, “Invocation” in May, 2019 via HHV Records & Cosmic Compositions. The vinyls are already almost sold out.

As a trained keyboard player, Szabolcs Bognar has been active in the versatile music scene of Budapest for many years. He’s been a member of several successful Hungarian acts, including Amoeba, Soulclap Budapest and the latest project – The Mabon Dawud Republic – a fourteen piece Afrobeat orchestra guest-starring Dele Sosimi. After residencies in France (Paris / Lyon), New York and Brazil (Rio, Salvador), Àbáse is now based in Berlin, where besides pursuing his solo career he’s the keyboard player for Wayne Snow.

One year ago we recorded at the fantastic Nadanadi Studio and engraved seven of our compositions on an Album, forged by the hands of the unique Florent Chaintiou. We are super happy with the result and the wonderful illustrations our friend Marta Di Ronco created for it.

The Samba will take place on Neukölln’s rooftop Klunkerkranich on the THURSDAY 12th of December.
Special guests and new Pandas will be on the presentation’s menu.

“A Panda do Sol“ is a Brazilian music band formed in 2014 which aims at transmitting and keeping the old traditions of Samba music alive. Amongst their inspirations: Ataulfo Alvez, Adoniran Barbosa, Jackson do Pandeiro, and the immortal Dona Ivone Lara.
This group of international musicians from Germany, Brazil, France, and Portugal gathered around a common passion for this beautiful and rythmical music and started to compose their own Sambas, adding modern arrangements to the traditional patterns.
Their first Album “Fôlego” was recorded in winter 2018 at the NadaNadi studio in Lichtenberg, Berlin, and was just released this Summer.
The band based in Berlin-Neukölln „A Panda do Sol“ plays to provides sun, love and energy !

Das bisschen Totschlag’s answer is a DIY collective of numerous artists, who’s input floats around the artistic outcome of Fabian, Niklas & Max; constructing a unique aesthetic of sound and vision.

So we are more than happy to welcome them for our little christmas party: Sultans Court have left the whole Klunkerkranich dancing with their Hip-Hop infused Indie-Electronica when they performed back in March and Banglist bring the heat to the stage.

Ross Alexander first came to our attention with
Memorias Vol.1 – Bugandan Sacred Places, released back in 2017 on Sucata Tapes, it featured a mind altering mix of recorded sounds from a series of visited sites considered sacred within the Bugandan kingdom and session recordings with Ugandan musicians Albert Sempeke and the Nilotika Collective layered with his own original composition using the Yamaha DX7 and programmed FM synthesis. The result being a unique reconfiguration of new age vocabulary with East African traditional sensibilities. The tape quickly sold out and the new Volume of Memorias presented here arrives now on the mother label Discrepant, on Vinyl with an expanded sound palette appropriate to the format.

Memorias Vol.2 – High Atlas to The Sahara Desert is the logical progression of Volume 1. – based on a series of field recordings Alexander made during a trip through the High Atlas Mountains and into the Sahara Desert in 2018. The aim of the trip was to visit a gathering of nomadic musicians at an oasis close to the Algerian border. Like Memorias Vol1. the recordings made on the trip were then later processed, layered and arranged with original compositions. Where Vol1. had clear nods to New Age music this volume explores the more ambient side of 80’s Industrial sound.

MAGRO is a drummer and producer from Berlin.
With his unusual sound, he creates a fusion of produced HipHop/RnB music and acoustically played jazz.
His project combines many of his musical influences such as Herbie Hancock, J Dilla and Kendrick Lamar. „I want to build a bridge between catchy music and the deep elements of jazz.“

Over the years, Magro has worked with numerous artists as a drummer and producer. Tours and international festival appearances (including Tremplin Jazz Avignon, Jazz Al
Popolo Rome, Women in Music Festival Zambia and many more) have taken him around the world. In addition, he co-produced the debut album by Leona Berlin, which was released by Warner Music in 2018.

In September his new single „15 Minutes“ was released. It features NY MC Stimulus. Later this year, more singles in collaboration with various Berlin and international artists will be
released – including Kenny Wesley (USA), Kileza (London) and Rapturous (Berlin).

Tom Kessler began playing guitar and double bass at an early age in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. His music overlaps many genres such as jazz, free improvisation and electroacoustic music. Since 2008 he has been active in the jazz and improvisational music scene of Mexico, USA and Central America, working with musicans such as Gustavo Nandayapa, Brian Allen, Hans Glawischnig, Blair Latham, Gabriel Puentes, Tyler Mitchell, Pablo Aguirre, and many others. From 2012 to 2018 he was a faculty member at the Jazz and popular music program at UNICACH in Tuxtla Gutierrez Chiapas. He has released 4 albums as a leader and many others as a sideman. His latest album as a leader with Jochen Rueckert on drums and Eivind Opsvik on bass was released on Unit Records on March 15 2019. He currently lives in Berlin, Germany.

Der künstlerische Werdegang der Achan Malonda ist eine Geschichte voller Geschichten. Sie gab die „Sarabi“, die Königin der Löwen im gleichnamigen Musical in Hamburg und verdiente sich die stilistischen Sporen bei unzähligen Auftritten Ihrer Showgirl-Wahlfamilie Chixx Clique. Sie lieh Ihre Stimme den Houseproduzenten H.O.S.H. und Niconé auf diversen Tracks und doch blieb die Sehnsucht nach dem eigenen Klang der Nordstern Ihres Schaffens. 2019 erschien endlich die erste eigene EP: „Mondin“, auf der sie feststellt: Irgendwo zwischen Hilde und Grace Jones lebt die „FeuerFRAU“.

Seitdem reist Malonda von einem rechten Fleck für Herzen zum nächsten und erhitzt die Bühnen dieser lauwarmen Welt mit treibenden Beats und dunkel elektronischem Chanson. Auf dem Parkett der Absurdität tanzt Sie Tango mit den Launen des Schicksals, denn Leichtsinn und Schwermut schmieden die Diva des Clubs.

Die Bühne betritt Malonda auf Beinen bis zum Mond, gewandet in glamourösen Schmuck und mit einer Stimme wie schmelzender Schokolade: „Guten Abend“ …Oh Gott! Weggucken unmöglich. Weghören? Vergiss es! Hailing from various parts of Europe, Morioh Sonder’s sound is an expression of the eclectic personalities of each band member. The original duo of Alexy and Flavy came together in Italy in 2017. After meeting drummer Elijah, the band moved to Los Angeles where they began to refine their sound in front of a live audience, eventually leading them to the cultural melting-pot of Berlin in late 2018. It was not until the band snuck backstage at a show in Berlin and befriended acclaimed producer Martin ‘Lucky’ Waschkowitsch, who recorded and mixed Parcels‘ breakthrough album, who in turn introduced them to bass player Samira that the band was truly formed. Without a home in the German capital and forced to live a transient lifestyle, the band set up camp in Bewake Studios in Berlin with Lucky, where they produced their debut EP “Is This Psychedelia?” due for release in 2020. Morioh Sonder’s songwriting brings together surf pop and psych rock, in an amalgamation with influences from post punk, disco and Brit-pop, all together encapsulating a unique, dance worthy, yet whimsical modern pop sound, sitting somewhere between Tame Impala, Friendly Fires and AIR. The band’s debut single ‚I Want To Die On My Birthday‘ was released on August 23rd.

Eine energiegeladene Sängerin zelebriert eine hymnische Ode an die Geduld. Trance-Jazzwäre womöglich ein passende Genre-Bezeichnung für „Onom Agemo and the Disco Jumpers“, dem Quintett um den rastlosen Berliner Saxophonisten Johannes
Schleiermacher.
Inspirieren ließen sie sich von Can, William Onyabor, Pharoah Sanders, nordafrikanischen Trance-Kulten sowie früher elektronischer Musik und veröffentlichten seit ihrer Gründung
im Jahr 2013 3 Alben und diverse Singles, gaben Konzerte in Clubs und auf Festivals quer über den Kontinent und hegten über diesen hinaus einen regen interkulturellen Austausch
mit außereuropäischen Musikern wie dem Ismael Orchestra, einem Issawa-Trance Ensemble aus Meknes, Ahmed Ag Kaedy, einem Tamaschek-Gitarristen und Sänger aus
Nordmali und Asmâa Hamzaoui, Khalid Sansi und Khalil Mounji, 3 Gnawas aus Casablanca.
Das aktuelle Album „Magic Polaroid“ präsentiert die Zusammenarbeit mit der dänischmozambikanischen
Sängerin Natalie Greffel. In ihren Texten behandelt sie soziale
Themen wie den Mut zu authentischer Individualität im konformen Gegenwind der Gesellschaft und fügt die semantische Ebene mantrenartig in die kreisenden Grooves der
Band ein. Wörter werden zu Klang.
Onom Agemo lädt zum Zuhören und Eintauchen ein, zeigt aber auch, wie der Kopf in einem schimmernden Raumschiff reisen kann während sich beide Beine auf der
Tanzfläche drehen.

Josiah Konder is touring Europe this fall and we´re stoked to have him on the rooftop!

“Through the Stutter” is a run-on sentence distilled to its most visceral parts. As a follow up album to Josiah Konder’s minimalistic debut release, “Through the Stutter” is born from a
caricatured, overly romanticized sense of amore disperato. Lyrically, it seems to draw inspiration from the mysticism of E. E. Cummings, its sound reminiscent of Jorge Ben, whilst keeping its violent bursts intact.
The songs are essentialist, like a Bresson film; as though feeding on the energy of a romantic protagonist,
crooning from an apocalyptic place, long after the music stopped. So looking forward to see this on stage!

Du hast schon wieder einen Pullover zu wenig über die gerade noch sonnengebräunte Haut angezogen, erste Zeichen der Winterdepression vernebeln Dein Hirn. Der Bikini auf dem Balkon ist längst getrocknet und die Festivalliebe verflossen. Runaway, turnaway, runaway.

Plötzlich spürst du einen unerklärlichen Sog, der dich in die tropische Heizungswärme der Arkaden und von da aus weiter Richtung Fahrstuhl zieht. In Windeseile wirst Du nach oben katapultiert, ein Kribbeln im Bereich des Nabels, als ob tausend Schmetterlinge in deinem Bauch Dich über die Dächer Neuköllns emporheben. Im Sturz durch Raum und Zeit, Richtung Unendlichkeit. Dort saftiggrüne Gärten, sanfte Klänge, warme Herbstluft streift deine Haut. Du spürst heißen Atem in deinem Nacken. Sanfte Stimmen liebkosen dein Ohr. Erst langsam, dann immer schneller erfasst die Vibration jede Faser deines Körpers, während kehliger Bass dein Herz schneller schlagen lässt. This is the rhythm of the night – oh yeah….

Extraterrestrial beings, unknown planets, mysterious creatures and wonderful nature. Billy Meier invites you to join their fictional universe and creates an exciting and distinctive concert experience.

The band name Billy Meier was brought up due to the band members common fascination of the life and theories of the Swiss citizen Eduard Albert „Billy“ Meier. His stories of being in contact with extraterrestrial beings and to have visit a planet called Erra, is the inspiration for the band’s concept. With this in
mind, the band has created their own fantasy world and makes music that grooves, has beautiful melodies, abstract soundscapes and a good dose of mystery. Jazz, Space Rock, New Wave, Improv, Psychedelia; their sound can be
tricky to define. But the band them selves refer to their music as Space Jazz.

Born in Dakar, but originally from Casamance, Ibaaku is a prolific artist; not only a producer but also a multi-instrumentalist, author, composer and radio host.
Before launching his solo career, he has worked for a few years with the best Senegalese hip-hop artists, including Xuman, Keyti, Daara J (Faada Freddy’s group) and PPS.

He furthermore remains a key member of the collective I-Science.
Ibaaku also collaborates regularly with other cultural and artistic fields, such as fashion, visual arts and video. The already cult record « Alien Cartoon »was born from the collaboration between the Senegalese designer Selly Raby Kane (who dressed Beyoncé among others) and Ibaaku, (who composed the music for one of her fashion shows).

Both hip-hop and experimental electro music, blended with Senegalese references and remixed local sounds, represent the major influences of the DJ’s first opus. Here and there,
some great references to the Beat Scene and its leader Flying Lotus can be found. We may also think of Sun Ra as an intellectual and visual reference, notably because of the Afro-
futuristic imagery proposed by the two artists.

Let yourself go on the Seneg-Alien’s space shift to measure the unique power of this cosmic being from Dakar’s nights!

Im Duo von Drummer Demian Kappenstein und DJ Illvibe, der nicht nur im Jazz zu Hause ist, sondern auch viele Jahre mit der Dancehall Band Seeed Erfolge feierte, setzen sich die Traditionen von Jazz und spontaner Klangfindung ganz neu zusammen. Aus gemeinsam generierten Grooves entfalten sich komplexe Strukturen und Verläufe. Die Musik des Duos hat stets Werkstattcharakter. Aus einem schier unbegrenzten Arsenal von Jazz­Zitaten, Beats und Samples entstehen mal swingende Sound­Collagen, mal wird minimalistischer Dub Jazz Schicht für Schicht aufgetürmt. „Am Ende“, so Demian Kappenstein, „entscheidet der Klang“.
Das gilt auch für unsere lieben und bewährten DJs Markus Tone und Adrian vom Hove, die Passgenaues von Vinyl liefern. Wir freuen uns sehr drauf!
